FĂŒrth once had a significant brewing tradition with over ten breweries in the 19th century. Today the historic FĂŒrth breweries Humbser and Geismann have been absorbed into the Tucher group. The annual FĂŒrth Herbstvolksfest is one of Bavaria's largest folk festivals after the Munich Oktoberfest and Nuremberg Volksfest.

FĂŒrth's Brewing History
FĂŒrth once had a lively independent brewing culture. The Humbser brewery, founded 1855, was the city's beer for decades â consciously distinct from Nuremberg's tradition. As in many mid-sized German cities, 20th-century industry consolidation absorbed the independent local breweries. The Humbser name survives but is no longer produced in FĂŒrth. What remains is a pub culture that still carries traces of that independence â and the Volksfest.
The FĂŒrther Herbstvolksfest
The FĂŒrther Herbstvolksfest takes place late September to early October and is the most significant folk festival in Middle Franconia outside Nuremberg. Smaller than the Nuremberg Volksfest but with a very loyal local following. Multiple beer tents, Franconian breweries, traditional atmosphere.
